I'm an archivist here at the Danish Data Archive. I have a university degree in History and Russian Language. And I have an IT education as a programmer.
At the DDA I work with the Danish Demographic Database - both as a programmer and as a historian. In this connection I have particapted in several conferences on historical census records and the AHC conferences and the DRH conferences.
I'm the project leader (in co-operation with Hans Joergen Marker) of our Source Entry Project where volunteers transcribes census records. Right now I'm working on preparing a new project in co-operation with the UKDA History department and the Norwegian Social Science Service. We want to make the census records available on the Internet in many different ways – maybe also with maps of the population - but this is under consideration, due to the changing boundaries over time.
The Danish colleague: Gunner Lind, University of Copenhagen, Department of History. He is very engaged and active in combining the use of IT and historical sources. His email address is: lind@hum.ku.dk.
