These notes are made from a copy of Kitchin's Post Chaise Companion, a road book of strip maps, 1767. The maps are closely derived from strip maps by Senex, 1719-57, which in turn derive from Ogilby's strip maps of 1675. The road book studied is in the Map Collection of Hampshire CC Museums Service, item HMCMS:FA1999.138 - the maps involving Hampshire documented listed separately as FA1999.138.25 etc, using the plate numbers.
Detail notes are only about Hampshire, and the part of Dorset that was then Hampshire. The style of observation can be a model for research about other parts of the country.
