Farmhouse. Dated and inscribed over rear entrance W.M. 1735; extensive late C18 or early C19 alterations. Painted incised stucco with painted V-jointed quoins on chamfered painted plinth. Graduated greenslate roof; ashlar chimney stacks. 2 storeys, 3 bays. Top-glazed 4-panel door in Tuscan porch. Sash windows with glazing bars in painted stone architraves. Rear wall is earlier than the facade, with C19 windows. Extension and barns are listed separately.

Steam powered corn mill, now barn, incorporating earlier farmhouse and barn. C17 house and barn, early C19 mill. Cement rendered walls, Flemish bond brickwork to rear; graduated hipped slate roof. Earlier buildings of clay on red sandstone foundations (from Holme Cultram Abbey). Large 2-storey, 6-bay mill with original buildings to rear forming U-shape. Mill: gabled 2-storey central projection has side plank door in stone surround. Sash windows with glazing bars in stone surrounds. Large cart entrance to rear. To left rear at right-angles adjoining the present farmhouse is the original cross-passage house, now a barn. Blocked front entrance now a window. All other original entrances and windows now blocked. Late C19 extension to right,with canted bay window, joins with present house. Sculptured stone from Holme Cultram Abbey built into front wall. Interior has one pair of upper crucks. Upper floor windows, blocked when walls were raised in height, are visible from the hay loft. Original barn to right rear of mill, at right-angles. Its clay walls now form internal walls extended in brick. Central cart entrance. Listed partly for G.V. with Abbey Cowper.
