There is a famous well not far from Buckbarrow, the neighbourhood of which is a happy hunting ground for botanists in search of rare plants. Sweet violets, wild geraniums, globe flowers, occasionally a butterfly orchid, royal ferns, parsley ferns, staghorn moss, all flourish here.
