| Large house, now school (empty at time of survey, July 1984). 1874 enlargement of Hall by Grayson for J.L. Burns Lindow. Coursed, squared rubble with quoins on chamfered plinth; embattled parapet carried on moulded eaves with gargoyles at angles. Hipped, graduated slate roofs with stone chimneys. 2 storeys. 3-bay entrance front (2:1) has offset plank door, with decorative ironwork, in full-height porch. Mullioned windows (lst floor transomed). Long and varied garden front. Listed as it forms an integral part of Irton Hall; C20 additions not of interest. | ||

| Clock tower; c1874 (by Grayson?) for J.L. Burns Lindow. Rough-dressed stone with rusticated corbels carrying parapet to tower. Graduated slate roofs; tower roof swept, pyramidal, with wind-vane on buttressed open timber bellcote. 4-stage tower with single-storey outbuilding adjoining; plank door at base of tower. Included for group value. | ||

| Fortified tower-house; C14, probably for Adam de Yrton. Now incorporated into school (empty at time of survey, July 1984). Granite random rubble with carved sandstone detailing; overhanging embattled parapet (C18 renewal?) carried on cavetto eaves moulding. Hipped, lead roof. 2 storeys, with attic and basement, 2 irregular bays. Assorted fenestration, some original with carved labels and cusped heads, some late C19. Interior has segmentally-vaulted basement and full-height newel stair. Main entrance now knocked through from school. | ||
