hearsay When the Lakeside branch railway closed, 1967, a Lakeside Railway Estates Co was set up, with an associated Lakeside Railway Society. There was the usual run of upsets for preservation attempts.. The line was lifted Haverthwaite southwards 1971, and a new trunk road laid over part of this section.
The northern section was re-opened 1973.
