When the Lakeside branch railway closed, 1967, a Lakeside
Railway Estates Co was set up, with an associated Lakeside
Railway Society. There was the usual run of upsets for
preservation attempts.. The line was lifted Haverthwaite
southwards 1971, and a new trunk road laid over part of this
section.
The northern section was re-opened 1973. | |
