Farmhouse and barns. Early C18 farmhouse incorporating part of the C17 house and barn with dated and inscribed window lintel I.P. 1667; other barn dated and inscribed J & S M (?) 1733 over doorway; with alterations dated and inscribed on 2 stones over doorway W.W. 1787 and I.D. 1806. Incised cement rendered walls, under graduated greenslate roof with roughcast chimney stacks. Barns of mixed calciferous and pink sandstone rubble, under graduated greenslate roofs partly replaced with C20 tiles. 2 storeys, 2 bays with right-angled barns at either side, forming overall U-shape. Recessed panelled door in shouldered architrave, under pulvinated frieze and scrolled pediment. Sash windows in painted C18 stone surrounds. Further right plank door in plain opening under 2 datestones. Left barn/byre has various blocked doorways and openings, replaced with C20 doorways and various C20 windows. Upper-floor chamfered-surround opening has dated and inscribed lintel. A further C17 weathered inscription is on a rear wall. Right barn has segmental doorway with dated and inscribed keystone. Further right cart doorway in brick surround with wooden lintel. Casement window, blocked doorway and slit vents. Rear of house has mullioned-and-transomed 3-light window. Interior has panelled doors and internal panelled shutters to ground-floor front windows. Free-standing panelled press cupboard is in 2 parts, the lower part dated and inscribed John Woodall 1667 and the top part inscribed 68 with a space for initials which are not evident. This was sold with the house and apears to be an original feature.
