hearsay Lanty Slee lived here. Under his kitchen floor was an illicit whisky still. Steam from the still was piped to emerge from a hedge in an adjoing field. Spirit was smuggled out at dead of night, across Salter's Bridge to a cave on Wetherlam. From there by Wrynose, when the road was clear, to Ravenglass and a ship.
