Westmorland /
-- The corner round the barn end is tricky for vehicles -
the farmers do it without trouble, others shouldn't be
trying, they are just a noisy and smelly nuisance to
walkers. The gate has no name, it's just the 'gate by the
barn'. Beyond the gate, tucked in on the right is an area
full of blackberries; this was a sheepfold.

-- One of several rills out of Sadgill Wood, that cross
the track; quiet in the picture, but it can get seriously
out of hand. The track now goes level (well, ups and downs)
by the wood.

-- The rill here has a waterfall off the road on the
left, and prettier falls in the woods to the right. When wet
it much more exciting! The close immediately on the left is
Middle Field, and further away, on the left, Hoghouse Field.
The hog house, which was also used for cattle, is beyond the
gate on the right, under the impressive sycamore tree.

-- Keep your eye on the rocks in this rough climb,
various stuff in the Coniston Limestone Series or Windermere
Group, including limestone. Some of the rock is tipped up
making hard jaggety ridges, lovely for walking! worse for
the unwanted vehicles.
