From the inn at Coniston, a leisurely traveller might have
much pleasure in looking into Yewdale, with its venerable
tree, which is tall and beautiful, though not umbrageous,
like those of Patterdale

knolls - returning to the inn from the head of Yewdale, by a
mountain tract, having the farm-house of Tarn Hows on the
right. On this road, Coniston Water is resplendently
