notes There was a bell here in 1663. A 'middle bell' was cast by William Whitwell, at Kendal, 1684. The 'great bell' was recast by Abel Rudhall, Gloucester, 1748. The 1663 and 1684 bells were recast by John Taylor and Co, Loughborough, 1880. Three new bells, the 'Jubilee Bells' were cast by Mears and Stainbank, Whitechapel, London, 1889.
