Cringlemire was built in the 1890s for Henry Martin;
architect Dan Gibson. 1 mile west of Langdale Chase. The
gardens were consciously designed as an arboricultural
museum by Thomas H Mawson, Robert Mawson and Dan Gibson, and
were sheltered by conifers; Mr Martin was a noted plant
collector.
The summer house is illustrated in The Art and Craft of Garden Making by Thomas Mawson, 5th edn fig.205 Waymark, Janet: 2009: Thomas Mawson, Life, Gardens and Landscapes: Lincoln, Francis (London) | |
