| Farmhouse orné with adjoining threshing barn (now garage) and loose-box with hay loft above. Dated 1767, with initials J.T. on lintel to former winnowing door. 1870 date, with initials T.H. (Thomas Hewetson) on jamb of loft door to south return of loose box; i887 date, with same initials, on porch. 1892 date in pediment, with inscription T. HEWETSON DEL. W. HODGSON SCULP above, on northern extension; 1st floor added over part of rear outshut at same time. Later alterations to rear. Coursed, squared rubble with quoins. Graduated slate roof, hipped to north end, with outshuts to front and rear. Stone chimneys. Apsidal plan to northern extension. 2 storeys, house 5 bays overall. East elevation: Chamfered plinth. Full-height porch, to centre of original house, has panelled door in shouldered Egyptian surround with blind arcading to jambs and glazed tympanum. C18 window to left,of 4 lancets in surround formed by interlaced arcading with colonettes fronting mullions; C18 window to right has 2 small semicircular-headed lights with square light to central spandrel. Northern extension has 3 lights in Egyptian surrounds. 1st floor of porch has glazed quatrefoil, with ramped cornice and stepped parapet above. C18 window to left has had central colonette removed, probably when reglazed in late C19 with 3 inwardly-canted lights; C18 single-light window to right. 1st floor of extension projects, carried on arched corbel table with ornate datestone; tripartite casement with colonettes fronting mullions. Hoodmoulds with scrolled labels to C18 windows on ground floor left and 1st floor. Moulded cast-iron gutter carried on stone brackets; ornate stone kneeler with finial to original north end of house. Extension's curved north return has 3-light mullioned and transomed window to ground floor and 2-light window above; cornice between floors features 2 overlapping roundels with (mock?) heraldic devices. Blocked semicircular-headed Egyptian opening to north return of outshut. C20 doors and windows to west elevation. Outbuildings under same roof to left. East elevation: Plank winnowing door in full-height pointed surround with wooden dovecote in tympanum. Plank door and small window to loose-box on left. West elevation: C20 up-and-over garage door in original C18 opening with stone pier supporting south end of lintel; room on right (former earth closet?) has plank door and small C18 semicircular-headed window. Plank byre door and casement set back on right. Stone coping and kneelers to south end of barn. Late C19 remodelled interior with richly moulded and carved woodwork survives virtually intact: 1891 date, with initials T.H., on lintel to 1st floor front room, south. Panelled hall ceiling has geometric ribbing with pendants at intersections; other ceilings have moulded beams with foliate bosses to intersections. Doors throughout have ornamental panelling. | ||

| Forecourt walls, railings and gate. Probably late C19, contemporary with alterations to cottage. Low (c.18 ins high) rough-dressed stone walls. 4 tubular rails carried between wrought-iron uprights with split, scrolled, terminals. Gate has standards with iron-twist and scrollwork decoration. | ||
