FARM BUILDINGS IMMEDIATELY TO SOUTH EAST OF NUMBER 14 / / NORTH SCALE / BARROW IN FURNESS / BARROW IN FURNESS / CUMBRIA / II / 388545 / SD1832169755

Barn and shippons. Probably late C18. Mixed rubble with some red sandstone dressings, graduated slate roof. 2 storeys, L-shaped plan. Large quoins. Barn has C20 boarded door under basket arch; various square vent holes; segmentally-arched winnowing door (south side). Range extending to north has arched door under landing of external stone steps; altered openings on right flank a doorway beneath arch. 1st-floor door with wooden lintel. Later lean-to on left of steps not of special interest. These farm buildings were formerly attached to a farmhouse, No.12 North Scale, now demolished.

Small house and converted outbuildings. Dated 'SHS 1751'. Roughcast stone, graduated slate and composition tile roofs. 2 storeys, 2:2 windows to 1st floor. House on right has central doorway with boarded door in stone architrave under cornice on consoles. Projecting sills to 4-pane sashes under segmental arches. Shaped date plaque over door. Shaped kneelers but gable copings removed; brick end stack on left, roughcast end stack on right. Outbuilding, angled back on left, has large square-headed opening with door, two 4-pane casements to 1st floor and brick end stack on left.
